We are thrilled to introduce an engaging creative writing workshop featuring the dynamic B.C. Author Karen Lee White. Having served as a judge at the cabin fever writing event in 2022, her encounter with our submissions rekindled her love for the North. She is eager to collaborate with writers from our community, regardless of their experience levels.
In collaboration with our partners—The Northern Lights College and Fort Nelson Literacy Society—and with generous support from the B.C. Arts Council, we are thankful for the opportunity to host this two-day workshop in early January 2025. This workshop is free of charge and welcomes participants of all ages and skill levels.
Please email northernrockiesac@gmail.com with the title ‘Writing Workshop Participant’ so you can add your name to the list. We will contact you with details and send a reminder closer to the event.
From Karen Lee White’s website: “Inspiration comes from years in the deep silence among the Tlingit-Tagish people in the wild landscape of the Yukon. Three years among the Shona of Zimbabwe filled me with joy, rhythm and life. My teachings, all I witnessed, live in the writing.
My Northern Salish, Duklaweidi, Tuscarora, Chippewa and Scots blood and bones lay right there in the pages. Home is there. In the words.”
